2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC)

The 2009 Federal Budget (passed Feb. 03, 2009) provides a
Temporary Homeowner Tax Credit up to $1350 on Eligible
Home Renovation Materials and Services purchased
after January 27, 2009 and before February 1, 2010.

As with all Rebate and Tax issues, you should always keep copies of receipts.



HRTC Overview


  • A Temporary 15 percent Personal Income Tax Credit for 2009 Taxation Year.

  • Purchases after January 27, 2009 and before February 1, 2010.

  • Eligible expenses minimum $1000, maximum $10,000.

  • Specific Eligibility Requirements apply.

  • Maximum Tax Credit: $1350 (i.e. 15% of $9000).

  • Home Renovation Expenditures include "Materials" and "Labour."

  • Federal "ecoAction" Program and "Medical Expense Tax Credit" Friendly.
